I really want a chihuahua and I'm doing research before I get one. I need to know how many puppies will she have in her litter at once.
Answers:
I have known 1-8. When there are 8 a lot often die. You never get the whole litter of 8 to live. The most I have known to all live is 6. Sometimes the mother will die too. Trust me I have tube fed rescue Chi pups every 2 hours night and day. It's not fun. Especially when one dies in your hand.
Breeding Chihuahua's is not easy and often very expensive. I have 4 Chi's myself and know many others who have them too. Very few will risk breeding. Those who have know it's costly and you must always be prepared to lose the mother and the babies. Although the mother usually gets through the birth with teh right care you often lose one or more puppies.
Chi's under 4lbs should never be bred. The male always has to be at least half a pound smaller.
I really would leave it to the experts. I was begged to breed with all of mine as they are from Champion bloodlines, but I love them all to risk their lives. My female is spayed and 2 of my 3 males neutered. My 3rd boy will be neutered as soon as he's old enough.
Chihuahua's can be very expensive pets period as they orften have greater need for vet treatment where they are so small and fragile. Quadruple that cost if you decide to breed. There is no money in breeding Chihuahua's for sure. The guy who bred mine always says if he's lucky enough to buy a 6 pack to wet the babies heads when they leave he's lucky. he does it because he has a genuine love for the breed and to continue his excellent blood lines and nothing more.
For the sake of your bank account and most of all the dog please don't bred.
None if you get her spayed. Which is a good idea. Having puppies is risky business for Chis.
it depends on the kind but most have three to four some can have five or six but that mix breeds
MY goodness you dont even have a dog yet and your already thinking about the pups she will have.
You best read up on the breed and then decide if you even want one. Also on how many Chihuahua's have to have c-sections due to their small size. You best start to save now for all the vets bills.
Save your self alot of money and have her sprayed.

Chihuahuas tend to have 2-4 puppies in a litter.
Why are you going to breed her, though? Just get her spayed, and enjoy her as a companion!
Chihuahua puppies are born with large heads, frequently necessitating cesarean deliveries by a skilled veterinarian.
I think she would be much happier if she were spayed...
If you absolutely insist on breeding her, be sure to do lots of research beforehand. There is much more to it than most people think! Generally, small dogs have small litters, and big dogs have big litters. So, a chihuahua should have between 2 and 5 pups.
Be sure to research!! And make sure she is at least a year old (Or in her 2nd heat) before she gets pregnant!!
Good luck!
typical number is 4-5 although you can get more or less. remember that you can't breed from her untill she is at least 1 and a half years old and if you just want her to breed from it's not the right decision to get a dog. before letting her have pups you need to build the temprement of the mum first, make sure you socialise and train her well before even considering mating her. also, make sure you go to a pro stud first time.
Chihuahua's have small litters usually only 1 or 2 puppies but sometimes 3 all depends on mom's size and dad's size.
Thank you for asking the question before you have a dog that is pregnant or in heat! At least you are doing your research, which is very important! The best thing in my opinion is to get your chihuahua spayed, because it will save you alot of money and save your chihuahua alot of health problems, but if you get a show dog quality chihuahua and you have a certified stud and you want to breed puppies, then that is your decision. All I ask is that you are not a backyard breeder that is misinformed, doesn't care for their dog, and is only interested in money.
If you want to be a good responsible breeder, then you should probably get into contact with other chihuahua breeders and make sure that you ask all of the questions that you have. Experienced breeders will know alot of things that aren't found on websites, and they can sort of mentor you.
Chihuahuas can have from 3 to 5 pups in their litter, give or take. It really depends on the individual dog.
Keep doing your research and get plenty of information from different sources! This is really important!
Good luck!
This depends on the size of the parents- but from experience they usually have 1-2 although I have seen cases where they have had 4-5. Breeding these little dogs takes alot of time, effort and at times $$$$$$ because unless your lucky they usually need a cesarian or veterinarian attention. They are a great little dog but trust me its easier to have them desexed and cheaper in the long run too. They are still a great companion even if they arent entire.
if she is a bigger chihuahua around 8lbs she will have around 6 puppies,if she a smaller one they only have 2.just to let you know the smaller she is, the more she will have trouble trying to have puppies.some-time a c-section is the only way.so be careful when you buy your chihuahua a bigger one is the best if you are going to breed her.good luck
my friend has a chi and it only had one puppy.
