About my other puppy question...?

Well, first of all we are keeping the little puppy!! So i measured him and I would like to know if this would help more of his age and stuff.
Nose to Butt - 13 inches
Paw to Shoulder - About 8 inches
He has a little curly tail too. Very playful. We are going to Galveston on Memorial Day and I would like to take him because I don't want him alone with the other big dogs. All I am going to do is take him a bath before we go because of his fleas. Should we take him to the vet now or after because I don't know if there is a waiting period after his shots and we won't be able to take him. Please some one help me on this. I was thinking that it wouldn't hurt him because I'm not going to put him in the beach water. Also, is he to young to ride in the car for those hours it takes which is about 5 to 6 hours to Galveston from Dallas. Please if anyone could give me tips on this problem and thank you if you do. He has grown a little bit since we had him for one week already.

Hi,
You have a blue merle puppy. That means... australlian shep, border collie, collie. Looks like an aussie to me, but because he is so young, it is hard to tell.
Anyway, it is fine to take him with you, but you do need to do a few things first.
1. fleas- frontline is safe for puupies 8 weeks and up. Get some now so you won't end up flea infested yourselves.
2. first round of shots- get them now. A puppy exposed to parvo at that age is not going to survive most likely. Go as soon as possible, there are terrible diseases out there that could kill him in a few days! Here is a link to what your pup needs:

be ready for car sickness... don't feed him that morning, but do have water available. Get a crate, if there would be an accident, it might be the only way the pup survives it. Airbags and being thrown against a window or jumping out is a major killer of dogs who are involved in car accidents. Bring spare towels, paper towels, plastic bag to put barf in, some spray to clean up with, etc. Also, ID tag is essential, if you lose him, it may be the only way to get him back.Good luck!
HI! Please get him his shots now. This way your mind will be at ease when you are traveling. There are no restrictions when traveling with in the US, so no need to worry about that.
It would just be better for the little guy to be vaccinated while traving to another part of the US. This way he will be protected.
Have a good trip!
I would take him to the vet now so that he has his shots before you go on your trip. The vet could also recommend a good flea shampoo so you can try getting rid of his fleas before you go. If you're staying at a hotel, they won't be too happy if you bring in an animal with fleas. lol There should be no waiting period after the puppy gets his shots.
He isn't too young to ride for that long...however I would be sure and make rest stops so he can get out and go potty and stretch his legs a bit. He is just a pup with a lot of energy and he's going to need some excercise during the long ride. You might want to take along a blanket for him to lie on and also take some water for him. :) Oh..and don't forget to take paper towels or something you can use to clean up after him for when he 'does his duty' on the grass at rest stops.
