Check you local animal shelter. Generally, the animals cost only about $100 but they're already spayed or neutered, they've had their shots, etc. so you're saving money in the long run.
I don't know about your shelter but ours has a "wish list" where I can sign up and say "I want this kind of breed" and they call if one is turned in.
I would never ever buy a dog from a pet store, first of all theyr'e from puppy mills and 2ndly, they charge too damn much for puppy mill dogs!
Find a good breeder----go to www.akc.org and click on the breed, then go to breeders.
Forget the pet stores! Adopt an Eskie from a rescue. There is a nation wide American Eskimo Rescue that goes by the name Heart Bandits. Do a search for that name and then look for a chapter in your area. There usually is an adoption fee but it's far less than any breeders price. Save a dog and get a lifelong friend, Eskies are great dogs!
