Hey, knock on the neighbor's door when they're home and say exactly what you said in your question. You have 2 houses and don't need one - would they like to have it for their dog since it's so hot outside now. If they accept, you've done a good deed for the dog. If they refuse, say O.K. politely.
When you get home grab a pencil and paper and start documenting when the dog is without water and shade.
When you have some documentation, call the cops and report what you've witnessed. They can put you in touch with the people who can get proper care for the dog.
No, you're doing a good thing.
By the way, this could be means for involving the SPCA or local police department.
The law states that animals should have proper and adequate shelter, food, and water at all times.
your doing a good deed. but yes some people dont like that. if you feel the pet is being mistreated call the pound.
No, you are being helpful. Just remember if you do this you will be taken advantage of to do it all of the time...and anyone who would do that to a dog isn't very considerate so don't expect any thanks.
But, being a dog lover, I thank you. And..being not as nice as you, I would probably call the Humane Society...100 degree weather with no water is considered abuse.
No, I think you're being a good neighbor and a decent human being. More people should be like you. How is your relation with your neighbor? They simply might not know that its not a good idea for that poor dog to be outside in the heat...in which case you can help them out. You can always use your dog as an example...like "my dog loves this...I bet your dog would too"...but I guess you can't force it on them.
Keep in mind that its animal cruelty to keep a dog in excessive heat conditions with little or no water...so you'd really be doing a good thing. Hope it works out for you and for the dog!
lookes to me like your beeing more consernd then nosey
no that is not being nosey! i would do it for sure! maybe your neighbours don't realize they are neglecting their chow... by offering kind gestures maybe it will be brought to their attention. if they refuse the kindness, i'd be suspicious. if the situation seems too cruel then call your local animal society!!
These people need to be turned over to the humane society! I used to live next door to people like this, and the dog was taken after they were reported. It was all anonymous.
But that wasn't your question, I know. Make the offer, just be diplomatic. Find a way to help this poor dog if you can. Kudos for being so caring about a helpless animal.
no, your being kind and saving the dogs life and there obviously treating him wrong and since it's like 100 degrees i bet they didnt get him shaved b/c he's supposed to. it cools them down during the heat. so i hope that u do give them the dog house nad maybe explain to them that you can call the police and have the dog taken away if they dont start taking better care of of him.
No not at all your just caring about the dog i would do the same thing and thats really nice of you to xoxo
no, and god bless.
You're doing a good thing. Just tell your neighbors that you have an extra doghouse and that you were wondering if they wanted to use it. It's also good to make sure he has water, you're not being nosey.
No, I think you are being a good neighbor and a caring human being. Here's a website with some ideas that may help you talk to the neighbors about their dog. http://www.unchainyourdog.org/talking.ht...
Good Luck. The world needs more people like you.
No it's very sweet of you actually. When I lived up north my two dogs at the time were mostly indoor dogs but did have a kennel and stayed out sometimes for an hour or so, when my neighbors dog died he asked me if I would like the doghouse for my dogs. I was very thankful and not at all upset. The dogs loved it. However if your neighbor isn't providing shade or water for his/her dog then you need to talk to him/her about it and see if anything is done if not call animal control.Tell them that 5 gallon heavy duty buckets work great for watering a dog if it's a large one, that's what mine get outside, and they can't knock it over if kept on one end of it's chain or corner of the kennel. Good luck and it can never hurt to offer.
why don't you offer it to your neighbors that way theres no awkward moment when they realize that you've been watering their dog behind their back (people can be weird about stuff like that)
No if you do that you are being a good responsible person. Which obviously they are not.. Dogs cant defend themselves from neglect only good moral people who arent afraid to stand up for what is right can do that, if you have noticed this dog is in distress, then you are one of these people dont let social niceties stop you from doing what you know to be the right thing to do. If I were you I would be over there every day, and I would also be reporting them for neglecting to provide the necessities of life to their dog. Standing up for a dog who cant defend itself to make sure it has basic comforts is not nosey, it is a moral obligation of all good people.
No, you're not being nosey. If you went out and purchased a dog house and brought it to them, they could be offended. However, giving up an unused one? That's a "neighborly" thing to do :)
However, if you go over to their property bringing their dog water, they'll see that as intrusive and feel that you're faulting their care of their animal. Which...of course...they aren't caring for it properly. If you notice that they are not giving it water...doghouse or not...make an anonymous call to your area humane society. They will make an investigation, make recommendations and then usually make an unannounced return visit to make sure the family is following their instructions.
They'll never think it's you who called...because you were the "neighborly" friend giving them a doghouse :) It must have been those AWFUL people down the street who don't know how to mind their own business!! (their thoughts..definitely not mine!) I've had to call the humane society before after getting yelled at for feeding a dog that had no water and no food and no shelter and was tied to a tree in the back of a yard :(
You are doing a good deed.
Just go and talk to the owners and say that you noticed that their dog did not have a dog house and you had an extra one if they would like it.
NO YOURE BEING A CARIN NEIGHBOR!!!
If I were you, I would call your county's Animal Care and Control office and report the abuse. Yes, it is animal abuse. By law, pet owners have to provide shelter, food and water for their animals. Your neighbor needs to be educated on how to take care of a dog. If you call ACC they will come to his house, inspect the animal and talk/educate the owners on how to take good care of their animals. If you don't do this and just provide them with your extra doghouse, they will not learn anything. They need to realize how serious it is to mistreat animals.
no good for you!
No - you are not being nosy. You are being kind and concerned. If they do not accept the shelter for their dog, I would call The Humane Society or your local authorities, and tell them he is not being properly cared for. Someone has to look out for those who cannot speak for themselves.
