So what if it's "a bit much"? Every year each of my four dogs get a cake (made of dog-good ingredients, not people cake) with candles and ice cream, balloons, party hats, gifts (rawhides, treats, new collar and leash, etc.). At Christmas, they get their pictures taken with Santa, a stocking hung on the mantle with care and gifts. And, like some people say -- maybe they have no idea (but, I think they do, a little bit), and it's "all for me"..then, I'm selfish for spoiling my babies rotten. Maybe "it's just a dog", some say. Kinda like my mom is "just a mom", my brother is "just a guy".one thing for sure -- my dogs are way better in so many ways than most humans I know..and, they're "just humans".
Just as long as you realise you are doing all this for you and not for the dog - at least I assume it's a dog you are talking about, although it's difficult to tell. Why not find yourself an interest in life, or maybe a relationship? Something is obviously missing!
loving any living being is definitely not craze...
nah...people do crazy things to the ones they loved...
We usually forget our dogs birthday. We feel bad afterwards but she really wouldn't know any different because we spoil her everyday.
do what you want to do, but it wont make your dog love you any more or feel any more wanted. he wont know what is happening and it wont make him feel "special". therefore be aware the party etc is for you, to make you happy, not actually the dog.
you should be buying him toys etc anyway, regardless of whether its his bday.
make him a cake out of doggy treats or dog food instead and keep the real cake for humans only or your birthday present to him could be death, the development of a permanent problems (like diabetes) or a few days of feeling extremely ill.
.
Let me get this straight.
Your dog is your baby boy.
He's having his first birthday.
Something a dog needs and appreciates is companionship. I don't think dogs are materialistic like humans.
They just need love and someone to care for them.
Just make sure the cake is edible for dogs! I don't think there is anything wrong with it but don't go overboard. It's just a dog.
To me it would be too much, but since it's not harming the dog (unless you overfeed him with food he's not used to, or give him food that is bad for dogs), I don't see why you shouldn't do this.
fresh bowl of dog food a new bone and clear water and a few run arounds the yard woud do great.
Agreed with the first comment. As long as your dog has social skills with other dogs and not just humans, and your cake is healthy for your dog to eat, you should be fine. Many people will pamper their pets thinking that they're making their animals insanely happy by doing so, but sometimes it's the other way around.
Dogs are no lesser than humans - they just aren't humans. So they need to be properly socialized with other dogs, and eat food that has the right nutrients that dogs need. Many dog owners don't realize that by over-pampering their pets, they are actually confusing them on who they really are - a dog. If we don't let them be themselves, often times they will become posessive of their people and bite, and they are usually dog-aggressive. Which is no way for a dog to live. And sometimes, in extreme circumstances, they can even be put down for their anti-social behavior.
They like being themselves! They're dogs! They're happiest taking walks and playing frisbee and digging holes and rolling around in grass! Just realize that everything you're doing is mainly for your benefit and the dog really just loves to take long walks and be by your side. Just keep the loving and the structure balanced in your doggie's life, and he will be a very happy, healthy dog. :] Have a good mothers day.
Love your dog as a part of your family, thats all dog wants...
Birthdays and extra are not that much fun for dogs, with kids teasing it .. anyway.. If you want to celebrate his birthday, take him to a park and play and give him treat... I Love my dog either... But i wont tease him, dogs are not human and humans are not dogs. Do what dogs like, not what you like, with your dog.
I think a nice special can of dog food a new squueky toy and ball and a long walk would be great for him
i dnt think that ur crazy u jus love ur dog very much and it wuldnt hurt to throw him a little birthday party he will prob lov the extra attention hehe so i say go for it!
LEGALLY "insane"?
No, just silly %26 childish.
Why don't you DONATE that waste of money to a HUMAN CHILD?
