Strange one is this.. i suggest that you maybe start mixing your dogs favourite food with proper dog food and gradually start weaning him of the cat food habit..in any case i would seek advice form a Vet.

Good luck :)
Thats like giving me goldfish food - not really made for me...
I was always told that cat food is a little too rich for a dog, but is ok occasionally.
I can't see no harm in it.
if the dog eats it, it likes it
dogs and cats have different nutrional needs - you need to start weaning her, the longer you leave it the worse its going to be for both of you.
This probably will not harm your dog short term but for the long term you need to get her on a good quality well known dog food. Only dog food with have the right balance of vitamins and nutrients that can promote long term health and life for a dog.
my dog eats my cats food once in a while...it doesnt make him sick at all..in fact he actually has more energy and goes poo better too!
Yes, you are. Cat food is formulated for cats and not good for dogs. Choose a top quality food - Canidae, Solid Gold, Innova, eg., and stick with it. No healthy dog will ever starve itself to death. No treats, no cat food, just dog food and your dog will soon eat it and be much healthier.
give her dog food - she will eat it if she is hungry - she wont let herself starve to death.

catfood might give her an upset stomach and diarreah because it is much richer than dog food.
It also has different amounts of different vitamins to the ones that dogs need.
.
Cat food is more nutritious and has more calories than dog food. The risk is your dog could become overweight by feating on the cats goodies.
You shouldn't really give dogs cat food all the time (the odd tin won't hurt) because the balance of vitamins and minerals is incorrect. If your dog really won't eat dog food (have you tried a dry complete meal food BTW, my friend's dog loves that but won't eat tins) you'd be better off giving her real chicken, fish and meat with some veggies and rice.
Yes that is harming your pet by depriving her of what her body needs. Dog food has crude protiens and fat that your dog needs. She isn't getting the nutritional value out of the cat food. She may just hate the specific brand of dog food you gave her. They make plenty of brands/flavors so experiment until you find a DOG food she likes. I would call my vet.

P.S. Cats have more taste buds than dogs...hence why their food is more flavorful to dogs.
I think you should contact your vet.. Dogs aren't cats so therefore they shouldn't eat cat food...
dont worry your not harming her, some dogs wont eat dog food so dont worry about that either, l have cats and two of them like to help me eat my cereals in a morning and another one l have to eat chocolate in secret cause he loves it lol.
Not 'harmful' but obviously designed to eaten by smaller cat-like creatures. Cat food is usually a lot richer and so it could cause digestion issues with a dog and it might not contain all the necessary components for a healthy dog.

Have you tried a regular dog food (I'd go for something like PAL/other normal dog food) and adding normal or doggy gravy to it?

If in doubt ... see a vet.
There is something in cat food that isn't great for dogs--the name escapes me right now--- have you tried kibble of a differnt size... I have a small dog who needs smaller bits to chew on... in any case, it may be the size of the nuggets your dog is diggin'?
Look, ultimately, as long as your dog can get its moouth around the nuggets, it will eventually eat it when it gets hungry. My dog gets a little snobby when she has been given a lot of treats, but will always eventually return to her dish after a little while... sounds harsh, but true.
Possibly, cat food is made for cats. There are some reports of dogs getting liver damage because of eating a loarge amount of cat food. You need a liver to live, thus the name.
Try mixing a bit of dog food with the cat food and increase it slowly everyday. Your dog will in no time get used to it. Then you can really weaned it off cat food.
You aren't harming her no but cat food is very rich, very high in protein so really it's not really that good for her long term. I would suggest you start with very small mixer biscuits maybe for puppies, try puppy food just wean her slowly and if she doesn't eat that have you tried starving her, she knows you are going to give her cat food or treats so she is going to wait and see what she gets, starve her she will soon click on she isn't going to get anything and start eating. Honest she won't starve to death she just knows you will give in
It won't hurt her, but it won't do her any favours either. Dogs need a lot more carbohydrate than cats do.

If she absolutely flat out refuses to eat dog food, at least put some vegetable scraps in the cat food. Seriously! Just no peppers.
Probably not, you might even help it learn how to always land on its feet. ;)
if that is all she can take then keep giving it her if she is not sick then u must be dong something right
my dog is the same!!most dogs eat anything, while cats are fussy, cats wont eat foodstuff if it ain't right, but by nature dogs are scavengers, and will eat most stuff,if my dog eats cat food she can have it,fortunately she isn't a greedy dog,i just add dog biscuits for a bit of 'crunch'. my cats don't seem to bother, the dog meat i got my dog the cats ate it,they are all fine, its people who have issues with food not animals, you wouldn't eat something you don't like, would you so why should they?
i have the same problem with my pup who hates dog food,so i just give human food.boiled chicken ,rice, pasta.try it at least you know that you are not harming it by giving it human food...without salt though.
Yes cat food will harm your dog..
Cat food is too high in protein, that is why dogs are attracted to it. Better off to try another dog food. If she does not like kibble, try different kinds, add canned food or do boiled chicken. If the dog is hungry enough, they will eat what is offered.
little bits wont hurt but not as a usual diet, my dog hates dog nosh also so i feed her complete food and suppliment with meat every few days, good pet stores sell this frozen...
Try mixing dog food %26 cat food together, gradually eliminating the cat food and adding nutrient supplement to the food.
She will eat eventually, if not at first.
Cat food is bad for dogs. It can cause enlarging of their heart.
